More on Busy on the Lake!

Saturday June 30, our granddaughter Kira and our son Dan came to spend the day with us. This is Kira the cutie that she is posing in her suit just before she and her dad took the plunge into the lake. We had a great sail then anchored for a swim, as we were getting ready to haul the anchor the wind started to build as did the waves. We went back to the dock and had a grilled chicken dinner.

On Sunday July 1 our nephew Damon and his beautiful wife Bethany came to visit us. They are expecting their first child in August. The weather was still kicking from the night before but started to lay down by afternoon. I was still reluctant to take them out on the lake but Bethany said she really wanted to go, so we did. It was still kicking when we first went out but continued to lay down for a beautiful sail. When we came back to the dock we had a grilled chicken dinner before they left for home. It was great to get the chance to visit with them. We look forward to the arrival of their little one and to visit with them again.

Our week went by quickly and on Thursday we went to visit our tax preparer Irma in Brockport. We have put in for an extension the past two years but are planning on sending our papers to her next year. Our filing is getting less complicated each year since selling the house and closing the business. I can say I'll miss our time to catch up with her.

The swans in the picture were taken on the creek at Brockport Yacht Club. It's mom giving a ride to her baby's on her back from there visit out in the lake. I can say I didn't know they did that it was a first for me to see this. Another great thing about this life!

Larry and I would have normally been in Canada over the weekend for the Hunter Rendezvous. The date has been changed to the end of the month and we have a conflict. We will be on vacation with our Grand kids. We will miss everyone at the rendezvous but have looked forward to spending time with the Grand kids all Winter.

We decided to go to BYC for the weekend. They have enough water for us to enter the channel this year. It was great to see some of the folks we haven't seen for two years. The weather was good and we had a great sail to BYC but motored back. We plan to stop there on our way to the 1000 Islands with the kids. They also miss the club and the beach.

Happy Birthday Larry! Sunday July 8 at BYC. This is Larry enjoying his Birthday breakfast. How old are you Larry!

Monday it was very hot on the lake, on the creek, in town every where! Our daughter Jennifer came down with her sons Jonathan and Joseph to spend the day with us. We had planned to go out for a sail and swim but the lake didn't cooperate. The waves were big and the wind strong so we stayed right a the dock and swam. It was so hot Jennifer even got in the water. She like us prefers the lake because it is so clean and clear but when it is this hot who cares.

I mentioned that we were looking for jobs for the Summer. Larry started today as mate on a charter fishing boat. I think he was excited and nervous all mixed together. It will be great experience for him. The weather was stormy this morning and I'm sure they had to wait out the thunderstorm that passed though at 5:45 AM this morning. I took him down in the dinghy and it started to sprinkle just as I arrived back.

I also start a job cooking at the little cafe on the creek. It will be only part time a few days a week unlike Larry he can work 6 or 7 days a week if he wants. Both jobs will help to build the cruising kitty.

We saw the same mama swan (I guess) with 2 chicks on her back. Also saw papa swan try to kill another male swan that had come too close to their territory. Stayed one night there with another boat. They had mosquitoes and we didn't. Go figure.
