Dowery Creek Marina

We had another early morning today. This was our sunrise as we exited the Alligator River Marina about 6:30 this morning. We did see more of the sun today than yesterday.

We had to request a bridge opening right after exiting the Marina Channel. This was our only bridge that we needed an opening for today. Our other two bridges were high rises.

These two photos were taken just opposit of each other on the banks of the Pungo Alligator Canal. It was interesting how different the two banks were. One was lush and green and the other was dead.

We didn't see Dolphins today but we did
See a wild turkey fly across the canal. We had to look close to make sure of what we were seeing.
We transited the Pungo Alligator Canal many times now but have never come across a barge and tug. I guess there is a first time for everything. We were glad we met him in a wide area of the canal. It's important to stay in the middle because the outside edges have tree stumps in the water. Not good if you hit them.

We were certainly glad to be into the Marina early today. This water spout was across the Pungo River about 3 to 5 miles from where we were tied up to the dock. We had high winds and rain but fortunately for us no lightening strikes near us.

We would prefer to anchor but with the weather producing winds, rain and lightning, and the high heat it's giving us cause to pay for a Marina slip.

Our plan is to stay put tomorrow and do laundry and gather some provisions.
