Key West, FL Day 1

Diane and I goofing off in Mallory Square this evening just before sunset.

Somewhere around 2 AM this morning a front moved in and with it brought heavy winds and cold air. It was very difficult to sleep with the boat doing that hobby horse motion. A few hours later it settled down a bit and we fell asleep again but not for long. It has been blowing all day long and is supposed to continue for the next few days. I read that in winter the winds here in Key West blow from the North, unfortunately that is the only direction this mooring field is not protected.

At about 1 PM this afternoon we decided we needed to get off the moving boat and go to shore. The ride on the dinghy was interesting, I've never surfed in a dinghy before. Coming back against the waves was even better. I think we had more water in the boat than out. It was getting dark when we got half way back and it made it difficult to find the boat. We were very glad to get back even though the wind is still blowing and the boat is still moving.
