Like my wheels? This is my classy ride to work at CoCoMo's Restaurant where I waitress. It's faster and shorter than on my bike or on foot. I cross the entrance channel to Broad Creek and I'm half way there. Larry took this shot last week as I was on my way to work. He was standing on the floating dock behind our boat. When we sit in our cockpit we look out over the Rappahannock River. What a view! It is one of the great things about living and traveling on a boat that I like most. The ever changing views!
Our schedules are a bit conflicting but were used to that from over the years and also in Marathon. Larry works Monday through Friday daytime and I work Monday and Tuesday nights and Friday and Saturday days. This past week I had us both lacking in sleep. I worked a double on Saturday and also Sunday night. It was graduation at the local High School and everybody wanted the time off. Larry waited up for me and that made him tired the next day and I was tired from all the hours. I don't think I'll do that again. I've spent my two days off this week recuperating. Poor Larry he is still trying to play catch up.
He is the week day dock master/jack of all trades here at Regatta Point Marina. This week he has been in Urbanna a town about 35 minutes by car away. Jack Dozier the owner of this marina is renovating a restaurant he owns in Urbanna and has Larry up there helping to get the work down. When you ask, they tell you they plan to open in two weeks. That was weeks ago. We are looking forward to it's opening so we can try them out for dinner.
Last night Larry treated me out to dinner at Toby's. It's a little out of the way place down a dirt road in a wooded lot. It's just a little place that used to be a house. They have great food and it was nice to waited on instead of being the one to be the waiter.
Larry has been ask to crew in an evening sailboat race on Saturday. He was excited to be invited, I'm sure it will feel good to get out on the water. After I get finished working on Saturday I plan to attend a concert on the lawn of the Yates House in Deltaville. Larry and I attended one last Spring on our way North. Even though Deltaville is a small town there seems to be lots of events to keep us busy. We have both met many people traveling through on boats and the invitations to get together are frequent. It's had to remember all the names and keep them straight. That's when boat cards aka(business cards) come in handy.
Even though we have been busy I'm looking forward to our next visit to New York to see our Children and Grandchildren. With us both working it's a little more complicated to arrange but not impossible.
The weather here has been pleasant. We had some very hot and humid days last week but it has become very enjoyable with less humidity and cooler temperatures. Even when it reaches the 90's it's bearable with low humidity. It's nice to have a beautiful pool to retreat to and cool off in. It's after four and that's where I'm heading too to catch a refreshing dip and the last of the suns rays.
