It's Been a Long Time!

I know it's been a very long time since I last Blogged. You probably think we have hibernated like bears for the winter. Believe it or not we have been busy and some times enjoying the weather. It's been cold here in DC but not much snow, which has been OK by me. We had our share of shoveling when we lived in NY.

Lots of event have transpired since my last entry. I visited my Sister, Patti in Nevada in September. We have had visits from two of our daughters. Patience came to see us for a long weekend in late September and Sarah came in October. For Thanksgiving we rented a car and drove to Florida to visit Mom and Dad Hodge. In December we rented a car and drove to NY for Christmas, where we got to see all of our children and grandchildren.

Two weeks ago we went on a skiing weekend with Larry's work to West Virginia. We haven't seen that much snow in five years. We had a good time tubing and cross country skiing. Last weekend I hit the big six o and we went to National Harbor for the event and stayed at the Gaylord Resort. The picture is of Larry and me out to dinner to celebrate.

This week end we are staying around the club and taking it easy. The temperature is in the 40's but windy and no snow. It almost makes one think that spring is around the corner. We know better though they got a big snow storm last year in February.

I forgot to mention that we became members of the Capital Yacht Club in September and now have a dock at the club. We moved here from Gangplank just before Thanksgiving. It's nice to be close to the club, not so far to walk for laundry and to visit.

Larry has been very busy at work and came down with a cold bug this past week but seems to be feeling more himself today. He is keeping busy, getting ready to install a SSB (single side ban) radio. We have plans to change and add several things over the next four years.

I've been busy volunteering at the NHM (Natural History Museum), my favorite of the Smithsonian Museums. I started out in the Butterfly pavilion and the Insect Zoo and now I am also in the Orchid Exhibit. The Orchid Exhibit will run until April 24 of this year. I will probably be called back to West Marine in a few months when the boating season begins again here on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding areas.

I have been taking loads of pictures all Fall and Winter and promise to get them uploaded to Flickr soon. You'll have to keep checking back. It has felt good to blog again and I'll make a effort to not be so long in between blogs in the future.
